A serious explosion rocked the "Color Play Asia" party at New Taipei City's Formosa Fun Coast Water Park (FFCWP, 八仙樂園) on the evening of June 27. Nearly 500 young people were seriously injured at the event-- after flammable powder ignited, exploding in midair at the water park. According to the Health and Welfare Ministry, of the 495 people injured in the inferno, five have died while 400 remain hospitalized. Among them, 269 are still being treated in intensive care units, 213 in critical condition.

Su Chia-sheng (蘇家陞), aged 23, a student at Taipei Medical University's School of Dentistry, succumbed to his wounds at the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital in Banciao, New Taipei City, on July 10th , the fourth victim to perish in the aftermath of the Water Park explosion.

After he was pronounced brain dead, Su's family members agreed to donate his organs, which are expected to benefit at least ten patients

Huang Hsiao-hsuan (黃小軒), aged 22, the fifth victim of the Water Park explosion, died on July 12 as a result of multiple organ failure. According to the Taipei Tzu Chi General Hospital, Huang suffered from fourth degree burns to over 90 percent of her body. Huang's mother had asked to donate her organs or body to medical science, but her condition made such a donation impossible, the Tzu Chi Hospital concluded.
