It is public knowledge that a “Taiwan Civil Government” (台灣民政府,TCG), a political organization, exists and operates in Taiwan claiming that Taiwan should be unified with Japan but is temporarily mandated by the US Military Government (USMG).
According to media reports, the TCG had been selling identification cards, license plates and travel documents, as well as accepting political contributions by fabricating illusory visions of political appointments in the future in a massive illegal fund-raising scam.
The Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office yesterday searched the “TCG” headquarters and residences of its major members. Seven of them, including secretary-general Lin Chih-sheng (林志昇), were arrested on warrants. What’s more, over NT$130 million in cash was found stashed in closets at Lin’s home.
In the early morning today, Lin Chih-sheng, his wife and other members were booked for investigation on charges of fraud and money-laundering. In order to prevent Lin, his wife and a third suspect from colluding or fleeing justice, the prosecutors petitioned the Touyuan District Court that the three be detained incommunicado.
