The pension reforms for retired military, civil servants and public school teachers are scheduled to concomitantly come into effect on July 1. The KMT warned that “the impact of pension reforms is just beginning.”

KMT Chairman Wu Den-yih (吳敦義) pointed out that the DPP government insisted on passing pension reform bills even though a consensus had yet to be reached in society, resulting in social unrest and chaos. Wu went on to say that the implementation of the pension reforms might cause a sequela of injustice and unfairness in the future, adding that the DPP must take full responsibility for the consequences.

Wu noted that the KMT would take specific actions to safeguard the pensioners’ dignity, rights and interests by fully assisting them in petitioning for judicial review on the constitutionality of the pension reforms and by rendering them services on administrative redress at the KMT’s chapters and the hometown offices of KMT legislators and KMT councilmen of cities and counties councils.
