On October 24, the Central Election Commission (CEC) promulgated ten plebiscites that would be combined with the nine-in-one local elections scheduled for November 24, i.e., Plebiscite No. 7-16. However, on November 2, the CEC re-promulgated Plebiscite No. 9 to 15 with the Cabinet’s official opinion on these plebiscites, eliciting dissatisfaction from the groups that proposed the plebiscites, including the Alliance for the Next Generation’s Happiness and the KMT.
Yesterday, the plebiscite groups not only complained to the Control Yuan but also filed criminal charges with the prosecutors against Chen In-chin (陳英鈐), CEC chairman, and Chen Chao-chien (陳朝建), CEC deputy chairman, for illegally facilitating others, as well as malfeasance and violation of the Plebiscite Act.
