The Mainland’s Fuzhou Intermediate People’s Court issued a ban on the sale of Apple’s iPhone X as well as seven older models of the iPhone on the Mainland, and the issue of whether Taiwan’s Apple supply chain would be affected received attention. Kung Ming-hsin (龔明鑫), deputy minister of economic affairs, stated yesterday that “if Mainland consumers switch to Samsung phones, then the impact on Taiwan could be significant.”

Kung added that “it remains to be observed how and when the ban would be implemented.” Industry experts opined that as demand for older models of the iPhone had already slowed, the ban would not have much of an impact.
