January 17, 2019

A KMT insider revealed that Chairman Wu Den-yih (吳敦義) had asked the party to study the development of a new narrative for the 1992 Consensus, hoping to add some elements that easily made sense to people in Taiwan on the basis of “1992 Consensus / one China with respective interpretations”, so people would know the benefits of recognizing “one China with respective interpretations.” In the future, the narrative would be expected to be like: “1992 Consensus / one China with respective interpretations”, combining the idea of democracy, peace, and a win-win situation in cross-Strait relations.
