Yesterday, the Central Election Commission (CEC) finalized that the Presidential and legislative elections would be concomitantly held on January 11, 2020.

Chen Chao-chien (陳朝建), acting CEC chairman, pointed out that as legislators to be elected to the 10th legislative Yuan were scheduled to assume office on February 1, 2020, coupled with the considerations that the past election days were scheduled on Saturday, and that the elections should avoid being held on the same day as the General Scholastic Ability Test (GSAT) for senior high school graduating classes or during the Lunar New Year’s holiday, the CEC decided, by resolution, that January 11, 2020 would be the day for the general elections.
