Yok Mu-ming: Is Only the Freedom of Speech of Taiwan Independence Elements Protected?

Yesterday, President Tsai Ing-wen instructed the National Security Council (NSC) to deny entry to Mainlanders who advocated“Xi’s Five Points” or the program of “one county, two systems” for Taiwan. To this, New Party Chairman Yok Mu-ming (郁慕明) stated that the Republic of China was a country with freedom of speech, so when the public expressed their views over the future of cross-Strait ties, no matter what they advocated, whether cross-Strait reunification or Taiwan independence, their freedom of speech should be protected in either case.
Yok stated that it was good for the President to convoke the NSC to discuss national security issues. However, Yok opined that the NSC should have conducted a study on who undermined the ROC’s sovereignty and whether what the ruling authorities had done complied with the ROC Constitution.
