Kaohsiung City Mayor Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), running in the KMT 2020 presidential primary, stated in a massive pep rally, held in Taichung on June 22, that currently the DPP’s biggest problem was that it was suffering from “power intoxication”, adding that the results of the DPP presidential primary polls were laughed at by experts and even regarded as a joke by former president Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁).
In addition, Han criticized that the legislative process of the Plebiscite Act took numerous efforts, but the DPP passed an amendment bill to send the Act back into a cage. He also criticized the DPP for “schadenfreude” over the dengue fever problems in Kaohsiung just because his party affiliation was different from the ruling party in the national government, adding that everything the DPP had done showed it distanced from the public. Therefore, Han called on the public to oust the DPP from power in the 2020 presidential race, welcoming a bright future for the Republic of China.
