Chu & Gou Comment on Han’s Primary Pep Rallies

The competition in the KMT presidential primary is becoming increasingly fierce. The Taiwanese Public Opinion Foundation (TPOF), a pro-Green survey organization, yesterday made public its latest poll, showing that when the five KMT hopefuls were compared with one another, Kaohsiung City Mayor Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) lost to Foxconn’s Terry Gou (郭台銘) and former New Taipei City mayor Eric Chu (朱立倫) in respect to approval ratings. Han indicated that this showed that he was the rival the DPP feared the most in the 2020 presidential race.
Eric Chu and Terry Gou directed their spearhead against Han, saying that Han’s massive pep rallies every week were not reflected in opinion polls. Chu stated in an interview that pep rallies had their benefits but should not be overdone because it might generate confrontations.
When asked about this matter yesterday, Gou pointed out that he himself was striving to “get things done” rather than organizing pep rallies. He also stated that now the general public were smart enough that they would not blindly follow the crowd.
