The strike launched by EVA Air flight attendants enters its seventh day. In the past few days, the Taoyuan City Flight Attendants Union continued to demonstrate goodwill to the management, saying that there was room for discussions on appeals of a hike for per diems, adding a board director representing labor, and a “no free ride” clause aimed to ban non-union members from being covered by benefits gained through collective bargaining agreements. However, EVA Air demanded that the Union propose revised appeals in writing and that the next labor-management negotiations be broadcast live.
The Union is slated to make public specific revised proposals for its appeals today. However, the date to resume labor-management negotiations has still yet to be finalized.
Since the launch of the strike on June 20, EVA Air has canceled a total of 523 flights. It is estimated that by the end of June, a total of 1,016 flights will have been canceled, affecting 210,000 passengers.
