After an executive meeting at Kaohsiung City Hall yesterday, Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) told media outlets that a tracker might have been attached to his official city vehicle, suspecting that he was monitored by the machinery of the state. Han added that he would file a protest against the machinery of the state targeting him and his family.

When being pressed about more details on the matter by the media, Kaohsiung City Hall merely pointed out through a press release that one of the mayor’s friends in the intelligence and security system had sternly warned that the machinery of the state had monitored and kept track of Han’s schedule for a long time, reminding Han that he might be monitored, with his car being equipped with a tracking device or his cell phone being used to track his position.

In response to Han’s accusation, Presidential Office spokesman Xavier Chang (張惇涵) stated that the government agencies would never carry out such illegal monitoring of any specific figures. Chang went on to say that political figures should not make unfounded accusations, asking Han to provide evidence to the police and prosecutors and take immediate legal action.
