The Statistics Department under the Ministry of Finance (MOF) yesterday made public a study, indicating that since July 2018, the US had imposed punitive tariffs on 3 waves of Chinese imports, with effect of order transference. The study also indicated that Taiwan benefited the most from the order transference in the 3rd wave.
In the first half of 2019, the US imports from China dropped by 2.56 percentage points compared to the same period last year, while imports from Mexico, Vietnam, and Taiwan increased by 0.82, 0.61, and 0.35 percentage points respectively, the main beneficiary countries.
