The Dalinpu Village in Kaohsiung (高雄市大林浦) is surrounded by the Dalin oil refinery of the CPC Corporation, Taipower’s Dalin power plant, China Steel Corporation and other large-scale factories, and these factories have emitted pollutants for years, gravely affecting the health and living quality of Dalinpu residents. Additionally, the village is located as if it were an isolated island, so it is extremely inconvenient for the residents.

Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) yesterday indicated that he had approved the Dalinpu Village Relocation Project, and the government would allocate NT$105.4 billion, based on the official estimate. Lee Meng-yen (李孟諺), Secretary-General of the Cabinet, indicated that the relocation project would affect 20,000 residents in the village, which would be the largest relocation project in Taiwan’s history.
