In celebration of the National Day of the Republic of China (ROC), Taipei City Hall held on October 10 a flag-raising ceremony, where Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲), Foxconn founder Terry Gou (郭台銘), and Chairman of the People First Party (PFP)James Soong (宋楚瑜) shared the same stage. When interviewed, Gou stated that he would not establish a new political party, and neither would he cooperate with Soong, adding that however, he would cooperate with Ko to secure seats in the parliament. When asked whether he would seek the PFP’s presidential nomination as the window of opportunity for registering as independent candidates had closed, Ko indicated that he had not called on Soong, and that there were still 20 days until the end of October, adding that “It’s still early.”
