Wu Encourages Tsai to Keep Saying “ROC”

With regard to President Tsai Ing-wen’s (蔡英文) National Day message, yesterday the KMT indicated that its cross-Strait discourse throughout did not accept “one country two systems” and opposed “Taiwan independence,” but insisted on the 1992 Consensus and one China with respective interpretations. Regarding Tsai’s reference to the ROC in her message, KMT Chairman Wu Den-yih (吳敦義) stated that Tsai used to say “this” or “that” country, but now she had said “the ROC.” Wu said that she deserved encouragement owing to this improvement.
