Yesterday afternoon, Tsai Ing-wen and Lai Ching-te (賴清德), the immediate-past Premier, went to the Central Election Commission to register in the 2020 presidential race.

As Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), the KMT’s presidential candidate, criticized the DPP’s stance on national identity as back door listing, President Tsai indicated that “the Republic of China Taiwan” meant that the 23 million people lived in Taiwan with sovereignty, a government, national defense capabilities, foreign affairs, as well as freedom and democracy, so she didn’t quite understand the meaning of the “back door listing” Han mentioned.
