After suffering setbacks in the 2020 presidential and legislative elections, the KMT party central submitted a self-examination report to the KMT Central Standing Committee (CSC) yesterday, listing the following seven causes for the setbacks:
1) “Public hatred for the DPP” still failed to beat “the sense of national doom.”
2) The KMT failed to control the pulpit of discourse on cross-Strait narratives to respond to the current changing situation.
3) Vicious cyber warriors exercised spin control, making the image of the KMT’s presidential candidate Han Kuo-yu controversial, so that it was hard for him to earn recognition from swing voters.
4) Han failed to repeat his winning formula in the 2018 Kaohsiung City mayoral race and adopted wrong campaign strategies in the election this time.
5) The KMT showed contradictions in the matter of solidarity during the 2020 races. Its momentum of canvassing votes still needed to be strengthened.
6) The KMT’s list of at-large legislative nominees failed to meet public expectations.
7) In the face of an increase in the levels of youth participation in politics, the KMT failed to win the hearts of the youth.
