Control Yuan member Chen Shi-meng (陳師孟) planned to ask Tang Yueh (唐玥), the trial judge who had acquitted former President Ma Ying-jeou in the secrets leaking case at the Taipei District Court, the court of first instance, to come in for an interview in order to investigate her legal opinions, eliciting a backlash from the legal circles. Today, Ting Yun-kung (丁允恭), spokesman of the Presidential Office, stated that on January 13, Chen had tendered his resignation as Control Yuan member to President Tsai Ing-wen through Chen Chu (陳菊), Secretary-General to the President.

Ting went on to say that the President expressed the hope that Chen would stay on until the end of his current term, but she would respect Chen’s final decision.
