Future US-China Tech War May Pose Greater Impact on Taiwan’s Exports

The US and China signed a phase one trade deal. According to Economics Minister Shen Jong-chin (沈榮津), with regards to manufacturing, since there was little overlap of products between Taiwan and the US, the impact was expected to be limited, but whether the US-China trade war would turn into a tech war needed further observation.

Chen Mei-ling (陳美伶), Minister of the National Development Council, stated that the additional tariffs now imposed and the US-China tech competition were still going on, adding that their tech war would cause a greater impact on Taiwan’s exports.
