Chen Shi-meng to Quit Control Yuan at End of This Month

It is surprising that Chen Shi-meng (陳師孟) tendered his resignation as Control Yuan member on January 13, two days after the 2020 general elections, which was confirmed by the Presidential Office on January 17.
Ting Yun-kung (丁允恭), spokesman of the Presidential Office, stated that Chen had tendered his resignation to President Tsai Ing-wen through Chen Chu (陳菊), Secretary-General to the President, while the President expressed the hope that Chen would stay on until the end of his current term, but she would respect Chen’s final decision.
According to informed sources, Chen insists on resigning and has started packing up. Chen is slated to officially leave the Control Yuan on January 31.
