Police Seize Bank Robber and Recover Most of the Loot, or NT$600,000

The Tachih Branch of the Bank of Panhsin in Taipei was robbed at gunpoint in the morning on March 30. A security guard stationed at the branch was shot in the leg and a total of NT$780,000 (US$25,780) in cash was taken. Based on the images recorded by surveillance cameras and the collected evidence, the police zeroed in on Chen Jian-hui (陳劍輝) as the prime suspect. Yesterday afternoon, the police caught the suspect in Longtan District in Taoyuan and recovered over NT$600,000 (US$19,830) of the loot. The case was cracked in 29 hours, but the assault rifle used by the suspect in the robbery had not been located.
