The number of furloughed employees in Taiwan has climbed to 31,000, hitting an eleven-year high, more than half of whom work in the manufacturing industry.

However, with regard to the demand for manpower in the manufacturing industry in the second half of this year, two major human resource agencies in Taiwan still viewed the situation with optimism as Taiwan was not only part of the global supply chain of Apple Inc. but also slated to inaugurate 5G services in the near future.

Chung Wen-hsiung (鍾文雄), senior deputy general manager of 104 Job Bank, concurrently director of the Human Resources Department, states that according to the company’s latest statistics, the general manufacturing industry has offered approximately 76,000 jobs in July, a 7-percentage-point increase from a month earlier.
