 Industrial Circles: A Ray of Dawn to Appear Partially in 2^nd Semester

The COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a heavy blow to the economy in the first half of this year. Despite facing strong headwinds against the economy, William Wong (王文淵), Chairman of the Formosa Plastics Group, gave a green light yesterday to a 1% pay hike and a mid-year bonus of NT$3,300 for each of the employees at large, while China Airlines (CAL) announced that the program of pay reductions for employees stationed in Taiwan had been terminated on July 1, and all employees would resume normal work schedule, starting July 16.  

The industrial circles interpreted the announcement by Wong and CAL as a ray of dawn appearing in some parts of the economy in the second half of the year.
