Yesterday, the KMT Central Standing Committee (CSC) held its regular weekly meeting in Nantou, instead of Taipei, presided over by KMT Chairman Johnny Chiang.
With regard to the by-election for Kaohsiung City Council speakership, a CSC member pointed out in the meeting that the party central didn’t coordinate well with Kaohsiung City councilmembers, questioning whether the KMT could win the by-election.
Chiang replied, in a rare fit of anger, that while paying last respects at the funeral service for Hsu Kun-yuan (許崑源), the late Kaohsiung City Council speaker, he himself had sworn in his heart to win in order to keep the position left vacant by Hsu for the KMT, adding that if he failed to keep his word, he would step down.
