The "blocking Kuan" high drama is full of climaxes! Exit a Pan Wen-chung, now enters a Wu Maw-kuen. The script of the drama has suddenly changed directions; blocking Kuan has now become “blocking Wu”! Wu Maw-kuen is not yet minister, and has already become the target of thorough doxing in social media, and his background has also been in the process of being searched from all directions. The accusations that the Green camp has pinned on Kuan Chung-ming have all been associated with Wu Maw-kuen with no exception, even more colorful, and more controversial than those thrown at Kuan Chung-ming! Wu Maw-kuen conversely extricated Kuan Chung-ming; with the episode developing to this step, if the ruling echelons still don’t want to sell at a loss and leave the market, and continue blocking Kuan to the end, it would only make the predicament of the DPP government more difficult.

National Taiwan University (NTU) has been without a president for three months; what do the students think about it? Wouldn’t the development of university affairs be affected as a result? The crisis of “blocking Kuan” and “anti-blocking Kuan” continues to blaze; wouldn’t the development of both the administration of the Ministry of Education and Taiwan’s higher education be delayed and retarded? What is even more terrifying is that if the crisis of “blocking Kuan” and “anti-blocking Kuan” becomes a chilling effect on cross-Strait academic exchanges, it would be a serious loss in cross-Strait academic research, education, and scientific research.

We urge that as NTU’s president-elect, Kuan Chung-ming ought to make his stance known on the related questions of what is right and what is wrong! After all, the NTU president selection committee and a large number of NTU faculty and students have supported Kuan to the present. With the exception of some Green media outlets with ulterior motives, mainstream opinion and commentaries have treated him with fairness early on. Granted for argument’s sake, perhaps this statement may let the Education Ministry and the ruling party have a way out!

Whether for President Tsai, or Premier Lai, regardless of the stern objections in their minds, it would be better to draw the curtain on this drama of box office failure before Wu Maw-kuen assumes office as Education Minister! To continue to block Kuan will not hurt Kuan in any way, conversely, it could cost a Wu Maw-kuen, so for what purpose? Do not talk about certain unnecessary political promises! After all, in the end, who is conducting political manipulations, who is lynching whom, the public all understand in their hearts!
