Hsiao Bi-khim to Assume Washington, D.C. Post as ROC Representative to US in a Week

Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), officially appointed by President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) as the ROC’s new top representative to the US on June 16, was sworn in yesterday. As Taiwan-US relations were claimed to be the best in history in President Tsai’s first term, Taiwan-US relations in her second term would attract further intense attention. Hsiao indicated yesterday that she would assume the post in the US within a week. Hsaio also indicated that outside circles had high expectations for her, hoping that she could “concretely” improve the Taiwan-US relations, especially in economic and trade aspects, adding that thus, “I feel great stress and tremendous responsibilities.”
