DPP Constitutional Reform Platform to Operate Starting August

The DPP has promoted constitutional amendments to abolish the Control Yuan and the Examination Yuan. To galvanize a consensus, DPP political figures in the government and party indicated that the Presidential Palace would jointly form a constitutional reform platform with the DPP Policy Research and Coordinating Committee and the DPP caucus, and that Lee Chun-yi (李俊俋), a Deputy Secretary-General to the President, would serve as the convener. The figures went on to state that starting August, experts and scholars would be invited to attend forums held by the platform, studying and drafting the direction for constitutional amendments in the future. The figures also indicated that the DPP then would hold further deliberations in detail and map out a plan to gradually form a DPP version of proposals.

According to the United Daily News, in addition, the Legislative Yuan will set up a Constitutional Reform Committee in the next legislative session, and constitutional reform will become the main battlefield for the ruling and opposition parties.
