The 98-year-old former President Lee Teng-hui (李登輝), after choking on milk in February, was admitted to the Taipei Veterans General Hospital. Diagnosed with pulmonary infiltration and later pneumonia, he has been hospitalized since then. On Wednesday night, July 28th, it was said that Lee’s health was unstable. The next day, President Tsai Ing-wen, Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德), and Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) visited him in the hospital one after another.

Regarding online rumors claiming Lee had been extubated, the hospital stated that it was not in a position to respond, simply indicating that Lee was indeed not in good condition, but not as bad as what the rumors suggested.
