Jiang Cabinet to Be Sworn in on Feb. 18th

Premier Sean Chen (陳冲) led the Cabinet to resign en mass today and the new cabinet headed by Jiang Yi-huah (江宜樺), the incumbent Vice Premier, will be sworn in on February 18th,, the first workday after the Chinese New Year’s holiday.

The new cabinet line-up has been completed. Mao Chi-kuo (毛治國), Minister of Transportation and Communications, has been promoted to Vice Premier; Chen Wei-jen (陳威仁), deputy mayor of Taipei City, will succeed Chen Shih-kuei (陳士魁) as Secretary-General of the Executive Yuan (EY), and the latter will serve as a minister of state, doubling as governor of Fukien Province (福建省). Moreover, Lee Jih-Chu (李紀珠), Vice Chairwoman of the Financial Supervisory Commission, will become Chairperson of Chunghwa Post. Furthermore, Perng Fai-nan (彭淮南) will remain as governor of the Central Bank.

In addition, Chang Chia-juch (張家祝), Chairman of the Taiwan-based China Airlines, will take over as Economics Minister. Kuan Chung-min (管中閔), a minister of state without portfolio, will be Minister of the Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD). Schive Chi (薛琦), Chairman of the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation, will serve as a minister of state without portfolio

Chien Tai-lang(簡太郎), Deputy Interior Minister, will take up his new post as EY’s Deputy Secretary-general. Hsiao Chia-chi (蕭家淇), Deputy Mayor of Taichung City, will hold the post of Deputy Interior Minister. In addition, Chen Chwen-jing (陳純敬), Deputy Minister of the Public Construction Commission under the EY, will serve as deputy Minister of Transportation and Communications. Presidential Office spokesman Fan Chiang Tai-chi (范姜泰基) will serve as Deputy Minister of the EY’s Research, Development and Evaluation Commission. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that Kao Hua-chu (高華柱) would remain as Defense Minister.
