Hung Hsiu-chu, was born on 7 April 1948, and has a Bachelor in law from Chinese Culture University and a Master of Education from Truman University. She has served the party as a Deputy Chairperson and Deputy Secretary-General. A 26 year legislator,from 1990 to 2016, Hung was the Vice President of the Legislative Yuan from 2012 to 2016, and became the Kuomintang's first elected female chairperson in March that year.
Having a political background in the field of education,and as the daughter of a political persecution victim during the White Terror, she has focused much of her legislative tenure on the quality of, and access to, basic, secondary and higher education in Taiwan.
As chiar of KMT, Hung will lead the party towards reformation. She vowed to streamline party's organization, recognize and support the young generation and instill hope to bring back party supporters.
