According to the latest survey conducted by the Taipei-based WantWant China Times Polling Center on candidates’ support ratings in the November Kaohsiung mayoral election, incumbent Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu (陳菊), of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) affiliation, is leading with a 58.7% support rating, followed by her Kuomintang (KMT) opponent Yang Chiu-hsing (楊秋興), a former Kaohsiung County Executive and currently Minister of State Without Portfolio, with 19.1%. 

 

In addition, the poll also revealed that 75.6% of the respondents confirmed that they would or would likely vote in the local elections on November 29, 10.9% would not vote, and 13.5% were undecided.

 

The latest poll was conducted from July 9 to 10, 2014, with 854 people successfully surveyed via telephone. The margin of error associated with this sample is plus or minus 3.4% with a 95 % confidence interval.
