The 17th Asian Games are currently being held in Incheon, South Korea. The Chinese Taipei team yesterday bagged another 8 silver and 4 bronze medals.
In the shot put event, Taiwan's Chang Ming-huang (張銘煌) took a silver medal Thursday after being bested by Saudi Arabian Sultan Abdulmajeed Al-Hebshi by a mere 2 centimeters in the Asian Games.
Taiwan's canoeists Chang Yun-chuan (張允詮), Chen Wei-han (陳瑋涵), Pan Hung Ming (潘泓銘) and Chang Chu-han (張築涵) each took home a silver in their respective canoe open slalom competitions.
Taiwan also won three more medals in tennis. One silver was pocketed in the men's doubles by Li Chia-hung (李佳鴻) and Lin Ting-chun (林鼎鈞). Lai Li-huang (賴立煌) and Ho Meng-hsun (何孟勳) took another bronze in the men's doubles. Cheng Chu-ling (鄭竹玲) and Chen I-chia (陳翊佳) won the bronze medal in the women's doubles.
Taiwan also took a silver medal in softball at the Asian Games. Although Taiwan missed the chance to win the gold, the silver is Taiwan's best performance in softball at the Asian Games since the 2006 Games in Doha, Qatar.
Wang Ya-ting (王雅婷) secured the silver medal in the women's bowling finals for Taiwan.
Taiwan's Chuang Chia-chia (莊佳佳) took the bronze medal in the women's taekwondo under-63 kilogram division on Thursday. Chen Yen-ming (陳彥名) also took the bronze in the men's under-63 kg category, for a total of two bronze medals in taekwondo yesterday.
To date, the Chinese Taipei team has collected 43 medals, i.e., 8 golds, 17 silvers, and 18 bronzes, ranking 11th in the medal count among the 45 nations participating in the event.
