The 17th Asian Games ended on October 4th in Incheon, South Korea after 16 days of competitions. The Chinese Taipei team bagged another two gold medals in the final two days, for a total of 10 gold medals in the end. The next Asian Games will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018.     

 

Taiwan's Wen Tzu-yun (文姿云) won the country's ninth gold medal at the Asian Games on Friday with a decisive victory in the finals of the women's under-55kg division in karate.

Ku Tsui-ping (辜翠萍), 19, won a gold medal with an 8-3 victory over Yekaterina Khupovets of Kazakhstan in the women's under-50kg karate finals on the last day of the Asian Games, after defeating four opponents from Vietnam, South Korea, Mainland China, and Hong Kong earlier on the same day.

 

At the 2014 Asian Games, the Mainland ranked first in the medal count, following by South Korea and Japan. Taiwan brought home a total of 51 medals -- 10 golds, 18 silvers and 23 bronzes, ranking 9th in the medal count at the 2014 Asian Games.
