Long-term Care Service System to Be Implemented in 2017

The Legislative Yuan (LY) on May 15 passed a bill titled “Long-term Care Service Act,” which is expected to be implemented in 2017. Health Minister Chiang Been-huang (蔣丙煌) stated that about 2 million people, or 800,000 families, would benefit from the new law.
The Health Minister went on to say that a draft bill titled “Long-term Care Insurance Act” would be submitted to the LY for review. He expressed the hope that the LY would complete the legislative procedures on the bill soon so that the long-term care service program could be officially inaugurated in 2017 to provide care services to those in need.
