A serious explosion rocked the Formosa Fun Coast Water Park in New Taipei City on the evening of June 27, leading to over 500 casualties with severe burn-related injuries. Yesterday, the death toll rose to six. 

Tseng Fang-chin, aged 35, was taken off life support, at the behest of her family, and pronounced dead yesterday, becoming the sixth victim to pass away due to the tragic incident. Tseng’s brother is currently in critical condition in an intensive care unit in the same hospital. 

According to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, as of yesterday, 388 victims are still hospitalized, with 254 in intensive care units, among whom 200 are in critical condition. 

The Ministry of Health also issued a press release yesterday, expressing gratitude to the Japan Surgical Society for assistance and advice in dealing with burn-related medical treatment. A Japanese surgeon who came to Taiwan as part of a medical team stated that Taiwan's response to the tragic incident had been outstanding, adding that he found Taiwan's medical standards and emergency response capabilities to be world-class.
