Hung Appoints 7 Deputy Secretaries-General

Newly-elected KMT Chairperson Hung Hsiu-chu (洪秀柱) announced on April 5 the appointments of seven new deputy secretaries-general in the first round of reorganization.

The seven newly appointed deputy secretaries-general are Lin Te-fu (林德福), KMT legislative caucus whip; Hsiao Shu-li (蕭淑麗), Chiayi City Council Speaker; Lin Kuo-cheng (林國正),former legislator; Yeh Shou-shan (葉壽山), former Pingtung Mayor; April Yao (饒慶鈴), former Taitung County Council Speaker; Yang Chiung-ying (楊瓊瓔), former legislator; and Chang Ya-ping (張雅屏), former head of the KMT party chapter of Pingtung County. Chang was also appointed as the head of the KMT Organization and Development Committee.

In addition, Taipei City Councilmember Wang Hung-wei (王鴻薇) will become the deputy director of the KMT Culture and Communications Committee as well as convener of KMT spokespersons.

Concerning the appointments of KMT secretary-general and other senior party executives, Hung opined that “sooner is not always better,” adding that she would announce further personnel line-up in different stages.

A Hung staffer went on to say that Hung had short-listed candidates for KMT Vice Chairman, KMT secretary-general, and other senior party executives. However, some of the candidates were professors who had to consider whether they could take an extended sabbatical in the middle of an academic year. Some were also political appointees of the outgoing Ma administration, who would be available only after leaving office on May 20. The staffer commented that “the entire personnel line-up would be determined no later than May 20.”
