As Mainland airplanes and warships cruise around Taiwan repeatedly at a military sensitive juncture in cross-Strait relations, the heads of four intelligence and security units of ROC Armed Forces would be changed in the next half year, capturing the Mainland’s attention. Lt. Gen. Liu Te-liang (劉德良), director of the Military Intelligence Bureau (MIB); Lt. Gen. Hsu Chang (許昌), commander of the Military Police Command; and Vice-Adm. Wen Chen-kuo (聞振國), director of the Political Warfare Bureau under the Department of Defense; would all leave office owing to mandatory retirement age. Lt. Gen. Liu Te-chin (劉得金), director of the Communications Development Office under the Department of Defense, would reportedly be promoted to commander of the 8th Field Army.
According to a defense official, the new MIB director hasn’t reportedly been chosen yet. Adm. Lee His-ming (李喜明), chief of the general staff, has been considering five candidates for the position, and one of them would be named.
