In 2020 Han Kuo-yu Ought to Follow the Han Vogue

China Times Editorial (Taipei, Taiwan)

Translation of an Excerpt

Despite the fact that the DPP uses the might of the whole party to attack Han Kuo-yu with peripheral flanks mudslinging Han with full force, plus the surge of Terry Guo, with Guo fans quickly galvanized as a troop, all these pop up wave upon wave of questions about the legitimacy of Han Kuo-yu’s entry into the 2020 presidential race. The Han fans who strongly supported Kaohsiung City Mayor Han Kuo-yu to run for president in 2020, have also been entangled by pseudo-Han fans who engage in such improper acts as cyber-bullying and threatening pundits, thus being assigned negative comments for being “irrational.” However, Han fans refuse to retreat, allowing Han Kuo-yu to continue to maintain his leading position in the public opinion ratings for the 2020 presidential election campaign.

Facing the rumblings in the KMT presidential primary, the rude and brusque interpellations by DPP council members at the Kaohsiung City Council, and the turbulent waves of the anti-Han Kuo-yu army, Han Kuo-yu, however, has been extremely calm and determined, confronting 2020 with his own tempo. On May 13, Han for the first time clear-cutly indicated that if drafted by the party, he was willing to enter the KMT primary.

Following the DPP’s four-year administration, the race in 2020 has become the final choice between "Taiwan independence and no independence." This is a momentous and crucial matter, allowing not even the slightest misstep. We must remind Han Kuo-yu, in a serious tone, that what he created last year was not a KMT miracle, but a miracle of swing voters.  At the enthusiastic and overwhelming scenes of the three huge campaign rallies in Kaohsiung City, how many in the crowds were not traditional supporters of the KMT, Han Kuo-yu should know by heart.

The Han Kuo-yu vogue represents the ordinary citizens who are satisfied neither with the Blue nor the Green in their long-running contest for being the more rotten, hoping that the two sides of the Strait will turn to peace from peril, hoping to shake off the predicament of being hijacked by pro-unification and pro-Taiwan independence ideologies, and hoping to inject vitality into society. In the last election, Han Kuo-yu created the Han vogue; in this election, Han Kuo-yu must follow in the footsteps of the Han vogue, making the dreams of ordinary citizens come true.
