When Political Swindlers Encounter a Fraudster
China Times Editorial (Taipei, Taiwan)
November 26, 2019
Translation of an Excerpt
Recently, a Mainland fraud suspect Wang Liqiang, utilizing the political needs of the Australian government and Taiwan’s DPP government, fabricated a case of ridiculous content, which surprisingly aroused vivid reporting by US, Australian and Taiwan media outlets, and nearly making his ploy that had worked everywhere succeed. The DPP government even believed that it was easy prey, with popular support, it attempted to seize the opportunity to ram through the Legislative Yuan an "anti-infiltration bill", to be used as a restraining mantra against cross-Strait interchanges and elements in the anti-Taiwan independence movement. Intelligent voters should see through the scam.
Based on a bulletin from the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, Wang Liqiang is simply a fugitive fraudster, and the target of his fraud is not intelligence, but fictitious imported automobiles, defrauding over 4 million RMB. After he left China with a fake passport, he arrived in Australia; Wang Liqiang claimed that he holds PRC, Hong Kong and South Korea passports, and last May he received orders to travel to Taiwan holding a South Korean passport; his assignment was to affect the elections. However, the National Immigration Agency officially indicated that it had no record of entry as claimed by Wang; what is even more embarrassing is that the pompous feat that he bragged about was immediately debunked by the knowledgeable. Wong Yen-ching, former deputy director of the Military Intelligence Bureau, who had published a volume on "CCP intelligence organizations and espionage activities," enumerated 10 major points of doubt, concluding that this "spy" story was sheer nonsense.
It may be pointed out that this fraudster from the Mainland is indeed brainy, knowing full-well that relations are tense between the Australian government and the PRC government, that the US, UK, and Australia of the Five Eyes have ties in intelligence, and must be glad to grant his asylum request, and will disseminate the news story greatly in the international community through The New York Times and other news media outlets. And the ruling DPP government in Taiwan, for its re-election bid, will fully utilize his fabricated "confession of crimes" in order to smear the KMT candidate. For a fraudster, he was indeed projecting nearly perfectly the thinking and logical moves on the part of political swindlers; his calculations verilv worked, churning a tempest in the international community as well as in Taiwan, as he had wished. Were it not for the fact that an "old government agent" of Taiwan saw through the scheme, he could possibly have continued swindling the public, even succeeding in his political asylum scheme.
Most embarrassing for the DPP government is that, thinking with “heavenly help”, it could justifiably mount a drive, smoothly railroading the anti-infiltration bill. Now the fraudster’s scam has been debunked, showing the wolf's tail under the sheep skin; the DPP's attempt has also been beaten back to its original form, exposing its viciousness. Mistakenly relying on the lies of a fraudster as evidence, believing that clever politics could make swindling succeed every time, but the voters will make a wise judgment, letting the scams hit the wall!
