With a five-day countdown to the recall election against Kaohsiung City Mayor Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), slated for June 6, WeCare Kaohsiung, the civic group that launched the recall drive against Han, has scheduled not only daily marches pushing for Han’s recall before the recall election, starting today, but also a rally at Formosa Boulevard MRT Station on the eve of the election.

In addition, DPP legislators and councilmemebers have been mobilized, standing at city street intersections to canvass votes for Han’s recall.

On the other hand, in order to cooperate with Han’s advocacy of “prioritizing city governance,” the KMT party central galvanized solidarity of 15 counties and cities, under KMT governance, to strive for tourism and revitalization in hopes of diluting the recall issue.

A figure within the KMT pointed out that with regard to a gangland plan said to be poised for oversee balloting, earlier exposed by Chen Ja-chin (陳家欽), director-general of the National Police Agency (NPA), the matter had riled plenty of retired military, civil servants, public school teachers, police, and fire fighters, who had supported Han’s election to office, so they thus called on, on the Internet, their former colleagues to oversee balloting as well at the polling/counting stations on the recall election day.
