The "I Can't Breathe" Fight Has Become Trump's Hot Potato
United Daily News Editorial (Taipei, Taiwan)

Translation of an Excerpt
When Trump announced the cancellation of special treatment towards Hong Kong and withdrew from the WHO, in addition to the COVID-19 virus pandemic still running high, huge demonstrations and riots broke out in the US because of police racial prejudice. The spark for the demonstrations originated from an incident in which a handcuffed black man facing down on the ground died of asphyxiation after a white police officer pressed his knee on the man’s throat for eight minutes. Over the past few days, "I can't breathe" has replaced "Black Lives Matter" as the new black people's civil rights slogan.
With only five months left before the general elections at the end of the year, Trump’s mishandling of the pandemic situation, the economy being hit hard, and his political performance being nothing to boast of, Trump’s chances of successful re-election are getting smaller and smaller. This wave of racial riots may become the biggest obstacle to his re-election.
