According to media reports, the Executive Yuan intends to pursue the issue of the so-called illegal party assets of the KMT, including investigating the running of the natural gas business with the Veterans Affairs Commission of the Executive Yuan, printing textbooks with Cheng Chung Bookstore, and the inappropriate financial resources of the National Women’s League that the Executive Yuan says came from “donations for entertaining troops.” Wu Den-Yih, KMT secretary-general, strongly denied any such accusations, saying it was surprising to see how ignorant the Executive Yuan was in disregarding all laws. It is a slanderous accusation to say that the National Women’s League is an affiliated organization of the KMT. He further called for Premier Su Tseng-chang to stop his electioneering tricks of “smearing his DPP opponents, and smearing KMT party assets“ to cover up the reality of incompetent governance.
What kind of organization is the National Women’s League? Wu went on to ask Su Tseng-chang to find out the truth. Does it belong to the KMT? The National Women’s League has made great contribution to society and our country in entertaining the troops, and helping the poor. Was it right for Premier Su to falsify a story that the National Women’s League belongs to the KMT? The KMT hoped to see the Executive Yuan act as the highest executive organ of the Republic of China should act, not merely becoming a smearing organization.
Wu Den-Yih pointed out that the Executive Yuan made a big mistake recently, saying the Association of Relief and Care for Mainland Chinese was a KMT-affiliated organization. This was a big lie, but a certain newspaper still reported this false piece of news prominently. The KMT asked this newspaper to correct the report, but only gained a small correction. “Is it reasonable that someone scolds you at the main avenue but only apologizes to you at the back alley?”
Wu also urged Premier Su to study more modern Chinese history. In the turbulent period of the 1950s, Chiang Kai-shek, in a capacity of Director-General of the KMT, led the country and paved the basis of future developments with equipment and gold from the Chinese mainland, eventually bringing about Taiwan’s “economic miracle.” It was true that the party-state system existed due to the then extraordinary situation. However, after Huang Huang-hsiung, member of the Control Yuan, stated in his report that the handling of KMT party assets should now conform to social justice, Lien Chan and Ma Ying-jeou, two concessive chairmen, set higher standards than Huang’s investigational report in order to meet the high expectations of society. If Premier Su still thinks that the KMT violates any laws, please say which ones, Wu said.
Wu pointed out, the sale of the Broadcasting Corporation of China (BCC) indeed raised controversies, but it happened during Lee Teng-hui’s tenure as KMT chairman. Why does Premier Su not investigate this case? Premier Su should not play the trick of “smearing his DPP opponents, and smearing KMT assets.” This is not only a dishonest attitude, but also an unaccepted behavior.
