In response to President Chen Shui-bian’s statement that “Taiwan is already an independent sovereign country,” Yang Tu, Chairman, KMT Culture and Communications Committee, and Su Jun-ping, KMT spokesman, today made harsh criticism by saying, “This has violated the ROC Constitution and does not represent the consensus of all people on Taiwan. “President Chen has also broken his commitments made when he ran for President of the Republic of China in 2000 and 2004,” they added.

Yang and Su said, “An out-going President should fulfill his obligations as a caretaker, and nothing else.”
