Ma: No Time to Waste in Establishing International Class Airport Town and Promoting Asia Pacific Regional Operations Center

On Oct. 4th, KMT Presidential candidate Ma Ying-jeou spoke of his vision of turning Taiwan into an Asia Pacific Regional Operations Center, including the creation of an international airport town and a free trade port district.
Ma pointed out that passenger and cargo traffic at the Taoyuan International Airport trailed Korea’s Incheon International Airport, Singapore’s Changi Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, and Thailand’s Bangkok Airport by a large margin. “This is a worrying sign that Taiwan’s economic competitiveness is on a downhill slide. It is a shame that the DPP government does not value the positional advantage of the Taoyuan International Airport, and fails to think of the future and to plan ahead. The DPP is pushing Taiwan toward a crisis of being marginalized. The Taoyuan International Airport was once the pride of Taiwan. Now it has almost become a symbol of backwardness,” noted Ma.
