KMT Press Release

January 3, 2008

Taiwan’s legislative election campaign officially kicked off on January 2. KMT Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung declared the party’s resolution to go all out in securing as many seats as possible in the Legislature. Sending text messages to all party members, Wu pleaded with members to do whatever it takes to consolidate voter support for the KMT.

Wu said with the legislative elections being less than ten days away, voters can expect a mushrooming of dirty tactics unleashed by opponents. Cautiously optimistic over the KMT’s election prospects, Wu vowed to lead the party to fight until the last moment and go all out in securing as many seats as possible in the Legislature. The Chairman believed that only by beating the opponents by a large margin could the DPP’s dirty tactics be nullified. “We must bag enough votes and send the voter turnout as high as possible,” added Wu.

In a text message addressed to all party members, Wu pleaded with members to do whatever it takes to consolidate voter support. “The legislative election campaign officially kicked off on January 2. We now have little time left. Under the new single-seat district voting system, every member is crucial to the KMT’s election prospects. The DPP must be toppled to give Taiwan some rays of hope. The KMT shall do its best to improve the economy and bring better days to the people,” added Wu.
