Chow Mei-ching Statement

I am director of legal affairs at Mega International Commercial Bank, a subsidiary of Mega Financial Holdings. The legal affairs department is a support group under the General Administrative Offices of Mega International Commercial Bank. We provide legal opinions to various units of the bank when they encounter legal issues in business or administrative management. We are not involved in operational policies in banking business or in the decision-making and development of the bank’s various businesses. I do not deal directly with any customers, and therefore I will not, nor is it possible for me to, be involved in any conflict of interests. Thus, after having given much thought to this matter, I have decided to continue my work. However, I would consider resigning if my holding of this position at the company interferes with the overall image or prospects of Mega International Commercial Bank or affects my obligations as spouse of the President.

In addition, I have resigned, since March 24, 2008, as a board member of Mega International Securities and Investment Trust Corporation and of Dwen An Social Welfare Foundation, a non-profit corporation.

Furthermore, as a matter of recent media attention, my commuting to work on public conveyance has caused inconvenience to other passengers as well as pedestrians. I feel awkward about this and wish to extend my apologies. I have decided from this day on to stop doing so.
