Legislature Confirms All Nominees for Examination Yuan

The Legislative Yuan exercised its confirmation power over the Examination Yuan nominees today. In order to avoid the rejection of certain Examination nominees as happened with Control Yuan nominees last week, the Presidential Office and the KMT party central, including President Ma Ying-jeou, Vice President Vincent Siew, Speaker of the Legislative Yuan Wang Jin-pyng, and KMT Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung, actively solicited legislators’ support for the nominations of the Examination Yuan. Their goal was the confirmation of all of the nominations for vice president and 19 members of the Examination Yuan.

When voting was completed, Wu Chin-lin was confirmed as Vice President of Examination Yuan; he gained 86 ayes, 22 nays, and 4 invalid votes. A minimum of 57 votes was required for confirmation. Meanwhile, the Legislative Yuan confirmed the 19 nominees for members of the Examination Yuan.

Chang Chun-yen, nominee for President of Examination Yuan, had earlier withdrawn from the nomination.

The results of the voting for members of the Examination Yuan are as follows:

2. Tsai Bih-hwang (Incumbent member of Examination Yuan)
3. Tsai Shih-yuan (Incumbent member of Examination Yuan)
4. Wu Tai-cheng (Incumbent member of Examination Yuan)
5. Bian Yu-yuan (Incumbent member of Examination Yuan)
6. Lee Grace Whei-may (Incumbent member of Examination Yuan)
7. Lee Ya-jung (A professor of engineering science and ocean engineering at Natioanl Taiwan University)
8. Hu You-pu (A professor of medicine at National Taiwan University)
9. Chen Jeaw-mei (A professor of psychology at National Chengchi University)
10. Ho Chi-peng (A professor of Chinese literature at National Taiwan University)
11. Jan Chung-yuang (A professor of public administration at National Chengchi University)
12. Huang Chun-ying (Former deputy mayor of Kaohsiung city)
13. Kao Ming-chien, (Chairman of the Taiwan Medical Alliance Association)
14. Li Shiun (President of Taiwan Nurse Association)
15. Lin Ya-feng (President of Tainan District Court)
16. Ou Yu-cheng (Former deputy minister of Central Personnel Administration)
17. Tsai Liang-wen (Deputy secretary general of Examination Yuan)
