After seven years of construction at a cost of NT$ 66.7 billion, Taipei Metro announced that the Neihu line will begin service at the end of this month. The Taipei Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) now covers Taipei City’s 12 administrative districts, thus greatly improving transportation convenience.
Taipei Metro said that the Neihu line has completed a series of test runs. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications plans to conduct a field inspection of the Neihu Line, after which Taipei City Mayor will set a date for the Neihu line to be officially opened for service.
The Neihu line is the last route of Taipei Metro’s primary MRT network. The Neihu line has a medium capacity and is linked to the Muzha line at Zhongshan Junior High School Station. It runs north through Taipei SongShan Airport to Da Zhi, then turns to the east to the Shihu, Neihu, and Donghu areas. The Neihu line ends at Nangang Exhibition Hall Station, which is connected to the Nangang line. The Neihu line has a length of 14.8 km and contains 12 stations.
