In a November 4th survey on the Taipei City Mayoral election conducted by the China Times, KMT candidate Hau Lung-bin took a one percent lead over his DPP opponent Su Tseng-chang. However, 40% of the survey respondents stated that they believed that Hau would win in the election. Hau's campaign spokesman Fan Chiang Tai-chi stated that Hau and Su were running neck and neck, so the race was too close to call. Fan appealed to all supporters to vote on November 27 because “if you do not cast your ballot, it is the same as voting for Su Tseng-chang”, adding that the outcome of the election would affect the future course of Taipei City.
Seeing the survey results showing Hau and Su running neck and neck, Su Tseng-chang’s campaign spokesman Lee Hou-ching said that Su and his team would continue moving forward, insist on rational approaches and adopt an innovative attitude to garner support from Taipei City voters. Julian Kuo, Su’s campaign deputy chairman, said that if survey results continued to remain unchanged, “Su would triumph in the election.”
